I know I’m not alone in this, but breast cancer threw me for a loop! The diagnosis made me feel uncertain, unbalanced, and emotionally a wreck. I was not fully prepared for the difficulty of treatment, surgeries, and the anxiety that comes with the uncertainty of knowing that you have cancer.
With the whirlwind of appointments, pain from surgery, and sleep disruption, along with balancing work and my personal life, I often found myself overwhelmed. I didn’t realize how much I longed for support to help manage not only my physical pain, but my emotional wellbeing. I knew something had to shift, and that was my focus on self-care, which I outline in this blog post. Some of what I experienced during my breast cancer journey has included feeling:
● Fearful
● In pain
● Trapped
● Out of control
● Emotionally spent
● Unsure of what to do, who to turn to, or how it will turn out
Do any of these feelings resonate with you? It is different for everyone. There are no wrong answers. However, addressing these issues and having one-on-one support from someone who understands is something that can benefit many women.
